Position Summary:
LAII Study Abroad Assistant, under the supervision of Robyn Cote, will assist Program Coordinator Fernando Maresma in processing in-coming international exchange student applications, coordinate housing and communicate course selections with academic advisors. Student will enter information about incoming and outgoing students into the LAII Study Abroad Access Database, and will work with new Global Education Office (GEO) website to monitor student applications. Student will assist with mailing out acceptance letters and transcripts abroad. Will advise UNM students on Study Abroad opportunities, including going to classrooms to recruit students and assisting at information meetings and Study Abroad fairs. Students may spend part of their time at GEO doing walk-in hours, giving information to interested out-going students, as well as assisting in-coming students at orientations and during academic semester. Student will be responsible for processing foreign transcripts and scanning and sending transcripts and UNM International Course Determination forms to Admissions. Student will communicate with returning students and also file course equivalencies and enter UNM course equivalencies into separate Access Database and/or GEO website. Knowledge of UNM departments and academic advisement preferred.

Strong organizational and personal skills; Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including WORD, Access Database, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Student should have excellent public speaking skills, preferably Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills, and preferably previous study abroad experience.
