Job Posting Summary

The incumbent will work on three concurrent ARLIS projects,serving as an assistant cataloger and bibliographer, as follows: 1) Susitna/Watana Hydroelectric Project cataloging: Work will be focused on updating existing MARC records for the Susistna/Watana collection at ARLIS as well as additional hydropower project reports as they are produced by and received from the Alaska Energy Authority. Record maintenance as well as verification, standardization,and accurate recording of report numbering systems will be job factors. The job wiH also involve original cataloging of hydropower reports. The incumbent may assist with electronic file maintenance tasks related to the creation, upkeep,and improvement of a website devoted to the presentation and accessibility of hydropower reports. 2) Alaska Gas project: Work will be focused on creating descriptive records for electronic documents via the use of MARC tags, in accordance with a pre-established metadata scheme. Involves original cataloging and record modification to meet specific project guidelines that were developed in order to create a database that meets the need of the client. 3) National Parks Service IRMA project: Work will involve bibliographic record maintenance, record selection, and citation checking. The incumbent will be reviewing an existing database for duplicate records,citation errors, and will assure quality control of the records.

Requires a Masters in Library Science or related degree from an accredited school.

Duty:
