• Key member of the customer sales team who has primary responsibility for providing both pre-sales and post-sales technical support for all BroadSoft products.
• Interacts directly with all levels of management on the customer accounts including the executive management team (CEO, CTO, COO, CIO, etc.)
• Identifies key customer requirements and presents BroadSoft solutions that meet those requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Direct account and partner responsibilities for selected accounts in assigned territory.
• Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities by producing a technical account plan for key assigned accounts.
• Coordinate all technical sales activities related to perspective accounts.
• Transfer industry, technical, and product knowledge to customers and partners.
• Keep up-to-date on relevant competitive solutions, products and services.
• Provide technical and sales support for accounts in assigned territory.
• Perform technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.
• Actively participate as a SME for certain products and technologies, providing consultative support to other Sales Engineers in their area of specialization.
• Drive the growth of key accounts through implementation of the BroadSoft sell-through process.
• Provide direct support for the technical fulfilment of RFI’s, RFQ’s and RFP’s in their region.
• Manage all customer feature requests including documentation of customer requirements, prioritization of all customer requests within each account, and driving development of key features.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May be required to build lab and proof of concept systems.
• Responsible for continued education on the platform and underlying technologies.

WORK COMPLEXITY:

• Will face complex technical and sales related challenges.
• Be expected to take full accountability for any pre-sales technical customer and partner issues in their territory and take the necessary steps to resolve such issues.
• Work closely with the Sales team to ensure any customer relationship or commercial issues are identified and dealt with appropriately.

DISCRETION & INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:

• Will be required to work in a highly autonomous environment with minimal supervision and direction.
• Often required to use their discretion when evaluating problems and deciding on a possible course of action for their resolution.
• Must prioritize their activities between many competing initiatives and requests to ensure that company revenue and customer satisfaction are maximized.
• Diligently escalate any matters to the appropriate person in the various BroadSoft organizations for complex problems where the course of action may not be immediately obvious, however they will continue to manage the matter to resolution.

ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE/CERTIFICATION:

• Will require BroadSoft University certification within 9 months
• Knowledge of baseline SE skills and in training to acquire knowledge in one area of specialization.
• Knowledge and demonstrated operating experience in one of the following areas of specialization:
o Voice, Video, Mobile Communications, Fixed Mobile Convergence
o VoIP and IMS Network Architectures (including experience with all VoIP network elements – SoftSwitch, MGW, MGC, SBC, CPE, etc)
• Strong understanding of VoIP and data networking protocols including:
o SIP, MGCP, RTP, IMS, HTTP/S, XML, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, etc.
• Familiarity with service provider networks, process, systems, and operating models.
• Understanding of customer communications requirements for both the residential and business markets.
• Preliminary knowledge of software and/or hardware, testing and implementation.
• Strong understanding of server and Operating System administration.
• Some understanding of software development technologies including Java and C++ is desirable
• Competitive knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings.
• Understanding and conversant about company, solutions and product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
• Familiarity with Operation Support Systems (billing, call rating, problem reporting, provisioning, testing, and service activation systems/platforms)

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS:

• Will interface with customers, partners and collaborate with a broad range of technical and sales teams within BroadSoft.
• Will interface with key executives on customer accounts.

Skills and Educational Requirements:

EDUCATION:

• BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ATTRIBUTES:

• Knowledge of baseline SE skills and in training to acquire knowledge in one area of specialization.
• Knowledge and demonstrated operating experience in one of the following areas of specialization:
o Voice, Video, Mobile Communications, Fixed Mobile Convergence
o VoIP Network Architectures and Network Elements (SoftSwitch, MGW, MGC, SBC, etc)
o IMS Network Architectures and Network Elements (AS, CSCF, HSS, MRF, etc.
• Strong understanding of VoIP and networking protocols including:
o SIP, MGCP, RTP, IMS, HTTP/S, XML, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, etc.
o Strong understanding of traditional telephony networks, features, and protocols.
o Experience with LINUX and/or Solaris operating systems and server administration.
• Preliminary knowledge of software and/or hardware, testing and implementation
• Some understanding of software development technologies including Java and C++ is desirable
• Competitive knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings
• Understanding and conversant about company, solutions and product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
• Knowledge of typical Service Provider process and systems
• Familiar with OSS (billing, call rating, problem reporting, provisioning, testing, and service activation systems/platforms)
• Ability to install applications on LINUX, UNIX and NT operating systems.

EXPERIENCE:

• 4+ years experience in VoIP network architecture, products, protocols, and solutions.
• Strong telecommunications background (with telephony and SoftSwitch emphasis preferred).
• Pre-Sales experience required.
• Experience with telecommunications network design, architecture, and support.
• Some experience with project management and resource tracking desired.
• Some experience in Network Management, Operations, Security, Planning, Traffic Engineering and Implementation desired.
• Demonstrated ability to implement, drive and track projects
• Data Network Design background highly desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This job will require 75%+ travel
• Typically works from home.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

• BroadSoft product experience and/or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in technology area of emphasis are preferred
• Network Design background highly desired
