Summary of Position: The Public Safety Officer is the principal university agent responsible for carrying out the police functions of the Ferris State University Department of Public Safety. These functions include protection of life and property, preservation of the peace and good order of the university community and the furnishing of various services to enhance and smooth university operations.
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Required Licenses and Certification: Possession of valid driver's license.
Michigan Commission On Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) eligible for certification by appointment date.
Preferred Qualifications: An Associates Degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related field.
Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and fellow work associates.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Six months experience as a law enforcement officer.
