Darling International Inc. has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Safety and Environmental Coordinator to join our Management team at our Tulsa, OK manufacturing facility. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual looking for stability and growth potential. We are looking for entry level/management candidates with leadership experience - preferably with experience and/or education in the environmental safety and health field. Ideal candidates will have both capacity and desire for a greater future and growth within the company. An ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally is essential as is the ability to organize complex tasks and programs. Darling International collects and recycles billions of pounds of agricultural waste. Meat and poultry by-products, meat scraps, restaurant grease, and waste from the bakery industry which is reclaimed and recycled into usable, everyday products. These by-products are recycled into fats, oils, proteins, alternative fuels, leather goods, organic fertilizers and methyl esters that are synonymous with quality in the pet food, animal feed, petroleum, leather and turf industries.Responsibilities include: Administers Darling Safety program which includes, but is not limited to, conducting OSHA safety training for new employees, annual training of employees, monthly safety committee facility walk-through, and advising safety committee in accident review processes. Conducts training of employees in environmental compliance, site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation to ensure compliance in the following: Air Permit Wastewater Permits (LAS or Sewer) Storm water Permits and Pollution Prevention (SWPP) Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) EPCRA (SARA) Compliance and Reporting Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Boiler Permits Business and Operating Licenses Ensures compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety regulations. Ensures proper monitoring and operation of environmental control equipment (air, water). Collects and performs environmental monitoring/sampling/reporting as necessary to comply with permit requirements. Occasional overnight travel to other facilities. All other duties as assigned.
Candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Safety and Environmental, Engineering, Agriculture, or Industrial Management or related field, with minimum of 2 years experience in environmental and/or safety management in food production or agri-business. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to demonstrate general mechanical aptitude, possess problem solving skills and able to provide leadership and training to production personnel. Prior knowledge of mechanical systems, processing equipment, high pressure boilers, waste water treatment, or animal feed processing preferred.
