Position Summary: Under the guidance and supervision of the Lead Auditor, the Auditor Trainee will assist in the planning, data gathering and analytical tasks associated with financial and operational audits, or assist in the completion of a segment of an audit. The employee learns and uses prescribed methods and applies standard professional practices and techniques. Performs related work.
Reports to: OAG Lead Auditor and Assistant Auditor General
Direct Reports: N/A
Key Relationships: Department of Education and State Education Department operational and program managers, and private special education program providers.
Assists in determining audit objectives, analyzing program requirements, and developing audit procedures. Receives training and assists with audit field work. Assists in reviewing, analyzing, reconciling, and evaluating documents obtained during audit implementation. Assists in preparing work papers, examining audit findings and recommendations, and preparing audit reports. Communicates orally and in writing with internal and external clients. Participates in interviews, and exit and entrance conferences.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 24 credits in accounting, including one course each in auditing, cost accounting and advanced accounting.
Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment.
Salary: $44,048 +
