DuPont Titanium Technologies (DTT) is the world's largest manufacturer of titanium dioxide, serving customers globally in the coatings, paper and plastics industries.

DTT is currently seeking a SHE Specialist for the DuPont Johnsonville plant. The Johnsonville plant is located on the Tennessee River in New Johnsonville, Tennessee, and is the largest Titanium Dioxide manufacturing plant site, providing quality product to customers for over fifty years. The DuPont Johnsonville site has more than 560 full-time employees, all working to uphold the highest standards of safe plant operation for the protection of our employees, our environment and our community.

The SHE Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, program guidance, auditing, and assistance with strategy development for site safety and health systems. The qualified candidate should have a working knowledge of Fire Protection, Distribution /RHYTHM, Emergency Response and PSM processes/systems. Additionally, familiarity with Occupational health and Environmental regulations would be useful.

The SHE Specialist will provide leadership and guidance to the operating areas throughout the Johnsonville site to ensure compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal regulations. This role interfaces with all site operations, SHE functions, leadership and the line organization in order to administer programs and procedures. This position also interacts and networks with other SHE personnel throughout the corporation, as appropriate.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Maintains a strong, broad, current working knowledge of regulations and corporate standards for assigned areas of responsibilities

Communicates effectively across a broad cross-section of site to ensure standards are understandable throughout the site

Demonstrates strong commitment and felt leadership in all areas of safety, health, and environmental performance

Participates in SHE-related activities (incident investigations, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.) as appropriate

Helps manage area costs to meet cost goals and commitments

There may be times when the SHE Specialist will need to report to the plant on the weekend, when critical needs arise, as this plant operates 24/7.

A BA/BS in a Technical Field or professional degree in the Safety, Health or Environmental Fields is desirable (ie Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science/Engineering etc.)

2-5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of regulations and requirements

Demonstrated ability to lead, work and communicate with a diverse group of people in all functional groups

Demonstrated ability to collaborate, network and maintain solid interpersonal skills in all functional groups

Strong public speaking, presentation and community relation skills

Excellent documentation skills/knowledge of record keeping requirements

Flexibility and the ability to handle a wide variety of assignments with continually changing priorities

Results oriented-assume responsibility for coordination and completion of tasks

Ability to organize work effectively

Ability to influence others

Ability to work under tight deadlines, sometimes with high management visibility/scrutiny


Regulatory – DOT, CAA (refrigerant-related)

Auditor training

Process Safety Management (PSM)

Familiarity with Distribution and Emergency Response and/or DOT related regulations within DuPont Corporate SHE Standards S-U:

Familiarity with Incident Classification and Reporting and/or OSHA regulations within DuPont Corporate SHE Standard S8Y

Familiarity NFPA requirements within DuPont Corporate SHE Standards S-F: Fire

Within DuPont familiarity with Corporate SHE Standards S-G General Safety and S-H Protective Equipment or OSHA equivalent

Within DuPont Familiarity with Corporate SHE Standard S12V, Use of Fluorocarbon-Based Refrigerants and/or DOT and EPA related regulations
