In the role of Laboratory Technician, you will be primarily responsible for performing specimen preparation activities. You will also be required to track specimens by maintaining the appropriate historical information for quick and accurate identification. This position requires a high level of attention to detail. Working independently, the incumbent will make accurate measurements using micrometers, calipers, and semi-automatic measurement devices, operate both manual and automated sample preparation instruments, including but not limited to: precision saw, ultrasonic disk cutter, dimpling grinder, ion mill, plasma – generating systems, and utilizing light optical microscopes and acquiring images with CCD cameras and their corresponding software.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related position and a demonstrated proficiency with electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) for various life and physical science applications. This position requires strict adherence to established procedures, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work to close tolerances. This individual will be a valued team member.
