Power and Performance Engineer
Job Description: Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgement and formal software process.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in electrical, computer, software, or systems engineering or Qualified Ascociates degree in electrical, computor, software, or systems engineering with a minimum of:
2+ years of power delivery systems experience
2+ years of power integration experience
2+ years of experience working with notebook or PC projects

As a new engineer in the Platform Power Optimization team, you will have the opportunity to work with senior engineers and architects to integrate key power savings technologies into Ultrabook platforms as we strive for all-day battery life. You'll conduct experiments to study the trade-offs between power, performance and battery life. You'll work with board design engineers to ensure that technologies are implemented correctly and that measurement hooks are incorporated to allow accurate and relevant power measurements. You'll get hands-on experience in PC power systems and you'll have the opportunity to apply engineering analysis to the data you gather in the lab.
