The Equine Medical Center ( EMC ) has an opening for a Operating Room Specialist. In this role the successful candidate will provide technical support and necessary supplies to the operating room as part of a team providing 24 hour emergency coverage. Also responsible for providing supplies and services to the rest of the Equine Medical Center as needed. Requires emergency on-call duty evenings and weekends on a scheduled rotation basis.

Required Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures; previous training and/or experience consistent with veterinary technician, nursing assistant, practical or registered nurse; previous experience in animal restraint and handling; knowledge of equine husbandry; good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to follow directions and ability to follow established protocol and procedures. Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed Veterinary Technician ( LVT ) preferred.
