Formed in April 2011, the Assurance Quality and Transformation Organization is comprised of those functions in the Firm that support audit engagement teams and audit quality efforts. It includes: National Professional Services (including Audit Methodology, Risk Management, SEC Services, Auditing Services and Accounting Services Group),, Chief Auditor Network, Audit Transformation Program (including Aura and GADM), Inspections, Regulatory Relations, and Learning & Development. Operating under centralized leadership, these groups work collaboratively to provide timely and consistent support to engagement teams on accounting and auditing matters, helping to enhance the Firm's ability to meet greater investor expectations with the challenges of an increasingly complex business environment, and our objective of achieving sustained audit quality over the long term.
The PwC Inspections Group is responsible for the overall execution and oversight of the Firm's inspection processes, both internal and external, related to the Assurance practice. The inspection processes are key monitoring activities utilized by Assurance Leadership to assess audit quality. Monitoring of audit quality is a fundamental aspect of ISQC 1 and the comparable U.S. Standards (SQCS 8) and is defined broadly by these standard-setting bodies as a requirement of a firm to establish and maintain a system of quality control to provide the firm with reasonable assurance that: (a) the firm and its personnel comply with professional standards and regulatory and legal requirements; and (b) reports issued by the firm or engagement partners are appropriate in the circumstances. The internal inspections process includes both the Quality Management Review and Engagement Compliance Reviews which are performed on an annual basis. The Inspections Group oversees external engagement inspection processes, including PCAOB and Peer Review, and work directly with engagement teams in responding to any matters raised in connection with external inspections. The Inspections Group is also responsible for assessing the overall impact of all inspection findings on the Firm's overall system of quality control and determining root causes to enable the Firm to appropriately address the findings identified.
