Internal Sales Consultant

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Candidate must have active Series 7 and 63 licenses in order to be considered for this position.

Two years experience in a client support or internal sales role required.

Two years experience in the mutual fund/financial services industry required.

ROLE PURPOSE:
Responsible for internal sales and marketing efforts for a specific or multiple sales channels. Sells investment products over the telephone through one or more of the following intermediaries: brokerage firms, financial advisors/brokers, banks, and insurance companies. Initiates outbound sales calls, responds to client needs regarding products, performance, and advisor-specific value-add programs. Works closely with external wholesalers and sales support staff to generate sales ideas, identify new opportunities, and in launching new products. Typically works independently under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Initiates outbound sales telephone calls and host virtual presentations to clients and prospective clients to promote Janus products and to communicate company updates. Utilizes knowledge of company products in an effort to develop business.
  • Proactively follows up with clients and prospective clients in a timely manner.
  • Leverages in-house CRM and other departmental databases to track client interactions and the progression of each client relationship.
  • Support departmental sales goals and territorial objectives by working closely with partner Regional Sales Directors and Sales Support Associates.
  • Generates sales ideas, identifies new sales opportunities, and presents these ideas and other territory strategies to the larger internal sales team.
  • Acts as the relationship/sales contact for a select group of clients.
  • Is tasked with uncovering opportunities resulting in sales production in covered territories.
  • Responsible for covering client meetings and events in the field as requested.
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Assumes additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct reports. Provides guidance and direction to assigned Sales Support Associate as well as support and mentorship for lower level internal sales staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop strategic business relationships.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mutual fund/financial industry products and services. Janus product knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Must have a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses required prior to hire.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Overtime may be required on short notice and may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • Typical office environment with telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.
  • PC usage up to 90%.
  • Telephone usage up to 100% of the time.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
