The Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law seeks attorneys to fill two full-time available positions. The minimum qualifications to be considered for employment are as follows: 1) licensure in good standing, State Bar of California, 2) strong writing, research and analytical skills, 3) demonstrated organizational abilities, 4) capacity to develop strong working relationships with others, 5) willingness to work Saturdays, some weeknights and regularly travel throughout the County of Los Angeles, 6) experience and involvement with community issues related to the Center's mission and programs and 7) ability to work under deadlines with heavy work volume. Prior family law practice, fluency in Spanish and supervisorial experience, highly preferred.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, to be successful, candidates must be able to meet the following specifications for the individual positions described below:

Staff Attorney, Pro Per Program : This individual will undertake outreach in the community and collaborate with other non-profit and government organizations, and assist particularly vulnerable individuals such as incarcerated and post-incarcerated persons, and those with mental disabilities. This individual will be expected to initiate, create, implement and maintain new partnerships on behalf of the Center, while contributing substantially to the Center's volunteer-based self help program.

Staff Attorney, Pro Bono Panel : This individual will undertake the task of managing the Center's program of matching and providing professional oversight for Center clients in need of court representation or specialized assistance, with volunteer attorneys willing to take their cases. This position requires the ongoing solicitation of new counsel and nurturance of existing lawyer volunteers, the delicate balancing of client need with attorney skill and experience, the ability to identify, analyze and address legal as well as ethical issues, and function as a lawyer, administrator and recruiter all at the same time.
