The Wastewater Operator is responsible for the proper operation of the wastewater treatment system to best control waste stream costs.
Understand and perform wastewater functions and concepts according to SOP.
Operate system with complete knowledge and expertise.
Capable of changing parameters of the system to control costs.
Calibrate system measurement devices.
Monitor and assist in management of all utilities.
Professionally interact with all associated vendors and customers.
Follow directions with minimal supervision.
Apply preventive maintenance schedules to Waste Water Treatment area in a timely manner.
Operate under the guidelines of the Safety Program.
Clean and maintain the cleanliness of the wastewater treatment room.
Ttrouble-shoot system and repair equipment while minimizing downtime.
Be flexible on work schedules.
Be able to work a 6-day workweek, as needed.
Maintain the upkeep of the interior and exterior of the plant, including some painting.
Assist other departments, as needed.
Special Job Characteristics
Uerstand and operate the waste water system.
Communicate with Department Manager, along with the city and local administrations.
Report back to other departments as to their impact on waste water and provide solutions to these issues.
Provide test results that demonstrate the facility's waste water is in compliance with regulatory agencies and internal cost control structures.
Create storm water analyses and reports for governing agencies.
Communicate with outside contractors that provide waste removal.
Understand hazardous waste concepts.
Understand and utilize safe chemical handling techniques.
