Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:
Routine work in operating a telephone switchboard or a multi-line push button telephone while acting as receptionist for the Rohr Home.
Operates a console telephone switchboard in order to relay incoming, outgoing and inter-office calls. Performs various clinic communications such as paging fire/disaster drill/code and other announcements as requested by clinic staff. Will arrange transfers by ambulance or taxi as requested.
Performs receptionist work answering routine non-technical questions and refers other questions to proper persons; directs people to appropriate offices, persons or areas. Keeps records of long distance and collect calls, telegrams received and messages which cannot be delivered at once. Performs various clerical work such as filing, scheduling patient appointments and posting all incoming monies including checks, money orders and cash, as well as the transmittal of the monies and copies of the logs to Finance. May type forms, documents and letters as requested. Ability to lift, carry, and hold materials, equipment and supplies that could weigh up to forty five (45) pounds.
Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Ability to learn the operation of a switchboard with several trunks and numerous extensions. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly in a well modulated and pleasant voice and to use correct grammatical construction and choice of words. Ability to remember and understand, with a reasonable training period, information regarding county service or other related information. Ability to react effectively in placing and receiving calls of an emergency nature. Ability to operate a switchboard under conditions of a heavy load efficiently. Ability to keep simple records accurately. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform light typing.
Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma. Some experience in the operation of a telephone switchboard, a multi-line push button telephone or receptionist experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of employment.
A comparable amount of training and related experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Two days per week
HIRING RATE : $8.80 per hour (Pay Grade 5)
