As a member of the leadership team, this position is responsible for providing support services to the nursing units and other clinical departments in the areas of staffing, Resource Pool, House Supervisors, and Interpreters. Responsibilities include leadership and management of fiscal and human resources. Plans and implements business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Provides direction for delivery of services to all nursing departments within span of control.
Assists in identifying critical success factors which support the organizational goals and strategic plan of providing transformational care.
Models behaviors that create a culture of service excellence.
Assists in defining and developing structures, operational systems, processes and outcome standards that support a positive experience for patients and families through the continuum of care.
Demonstrates investment in the development of leadership personnel by coaching, mentoring and teaching.
Ensures regulatory compliance and accreditation.
Ensures established productivity standards are met.
Ensures the financial and budget performance meets or exceeds established objectives.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing and hiring employees; training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Able to successfully drive the strategic and operational plan within areas managed. Be available 24/7 as needed.
Education and/or Experience
Five plus years of experience in progressively responsible leadership positions required. Includes a minimum of 2 years acute care experience required with at least 3 years of management.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Masters degree in nursing or management preferred.
Proven experience in the design and implementation of health care service, preferably in an acute care setting.
Proven track record for driving process and performance improvement.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must meet eligibility requirements for a nursing license through the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) at the time of employment application. State licensure must be obtained prior to the date of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by the American Heart Association or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross within 30 days post date of hire.
