Type of Recruitment Open Job Description Performs complex work of considerable difficulty in recording and transcribing verbatim court and legal proceedings. Records all court proceedings verbatim by use of specialized equipment. Catalogs and files stenographic notes and transcripts.

Prepares and certifies transcripts. Reads back testimony from stenographic notes as requested. Replies to correspondence relating to transcripts of proceedings. A court reporter may be appointed to work in a primary division or may be assigned to work in any division as needs arise.

Physical Demands Independent body mobility to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods of time and/or drive a vehicle. Manual dexterity to reach, and grasp; manual dexterity to hand write or use computer keyboard; vision sufficient to see/read; hear and speak to communicate with customers in person and over the phone. Working Conditions Position located in an indoor office environment. Required Qualifications Effective January 1, 2003, all court reporters in Arizona are subject to certification and must have Standard Certification or Provisional Standard Certification.

Code Section 7–206 governs court reporter standard certification in Arizona pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Title 32, Chapter 40. High School Diploma or G.E.D., and any combination of education, training or work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Preferred Qualifications Completion of 2 years in an accredited certifed court reporting program AND a minimum of one year Court Reporter experience. Pinal County provides all equipment and supplies necessary to perform the duties of an Official Court Reporter, including a Stenograph writer, CaseCatalyst reporter software, individual laptop and desktop computers with updates as needed.
