The Time Warner Cable's East Region currently seeks a Hub Technician for our Headend Department in Keene, NH. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.Reports to: Engineering Supervisor Purpose:
This position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all the equipment related to the Headend. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the proper operating levels of all RF signals leaving the headend, including analog and digital channels as well as modem related signals and CMTSs.
- Aiding field technicians with escalated issues related to hubs, such as settop, cable modem, laser, receiver, picture quality and signal level issues.
- Maintaining all point to point fiber links and related equipment used for WDM and DWDM transport as well as all optical equipment used for the reception and distribution of all system feeds at the main headend and all remote sites.
- Performing the hub portion of the semi-annual FCC Proof of Performance Tests.
- Implementing all system upgrades related to the hubs, such as new services, equipment upgrades, software upgrades to existing networks, etc.
- Maintaining all aspects of the remote sites, such as proper operation of all electronics, maintaining proper temperature and humidity, maintaining the UPS and standby generator systems and monitoring security and outside appearance.
- Serving in an on-call capacity to provide 24 hours service Essential Job Functions include:


Wiring and installation and activation of amplifiers, transmitters, receivers and advanced service equipment i.e. CMTS, QAMs, GQAMs, MQAMs, QPSKs, BEQs, SEPs, SEMs, RPDs


Maintaining proper levels of all signals from the Headends and Hubs.


Using various test equipment for trouble shooting.


Upgrading services and equipment as needed.


Working overnight whenever needed often with little notice.


Maintaining the Headend and Hub site air conditioners, generators and UPS units and overall condition.

Job Requirements:

ust possess a valid driver's license.

Familiarity with RF spectrum and analog and digital modulation techniques used in our system, required.

Has an understanding of various set-top converters deployed in our system. Knowledge of advanced analog and digital set-top operating systems and applications preferred.


Has a basic understanding of the use of forward and return RF transportation systems.


Has knowledge of fiber optic test equipment, including OTDR operation, and trouble-shooting techniques. Fiber optic splicing experience also preferred.

Will maintain records for system operational tests in a neat and orderly manner.


Will be required to align and repair systems processing and signal generating equipment to the module level.


Handles emergency and standby service on a rotating schedule basis in evening and as required by the system during normal work shifts, with minimal supervision.

Familiar with FCC technical standards and understands Time Warner Cable standards related to our operations.

Responsible for proper care of company vehicles, tools and test equipment.

Be a self-starter who can work alone as well as part of a team.

Be able to manage a large work load, prioritizing work to meet multiple deadlines.

Be able to serve on-call within a 24x7, 365 days a year, ennvironment to support business needs.
Must possess the ability to solve problems with minimum amounts of supervision and assistance.
Must be able to plan and implement projects.
Must have the ability to use PC based diagnostics tools.

Be able to perform all other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

- NCTI certifications in Fiber, networking, IP
- SCTE Broadand Telecom Center Specialist

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Legal/Financial Responsibilities:
Requires adherence to Time Warner Standards of Business Conduct. Position must assist in maintaining the confidentiality of customer and business data at all times.
