Work duties include the performance of various traffic engineering studies such as determining the need for traffic signals, analyzing high accident locations, performing traffic analysis, and improving signal timing. Traffic planning studies include analyzing roadway corridors and developing travel demand forecasts using transportation planning models.

Traffic engineering activities include the design of traffic signals, signing and pavement marking plans, roadway lighting and electrical distribution plans, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plans and maintenance and traffic plans to the Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) stage.

Required Skills

BSCE required, EIT required, PE preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire. Practical knowledge of construction of traffic control devices is desirable. Successful candidates will have the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.

Required Experience

Candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in the above listed duties. DelDOT, PennDOT, NJDOT and/or local municipalities work experience is a plus. Experience using analysis and simulation modeling, planning and CAD software, such as HCS, SYNCHRO, VISSIM and Microstation is required.
