TripAdvisor seeks a creative, tech and social media-savvy Senior PR Manager to lead its
West Coast communications team. Core responsibilities of the role will include
developing and driving the company’s media relations activity around social, mobile and
product innovations to reinforce TripAdvisor’s position as the world’s leading travel
planning site. The role also includes responsibility for the company’s overall social
media strategy to enhance engagement with travellers and media alike.
The successful candidate will be a results-driven and solutions-oriented individual
adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, and embrace working collaboratively
with a high-energy group of individuals who are passionate about our travel brand. The
role will report into the Director, Communications and will be based in San Francisco.
        On-going development and implementation of a media relations strategy that reinforces
        TripAdvisor as the world’s foremost travel planning site through thought and product
        leadership. This will include:
        • Leading the development of all PR communications around product launches,
        enhancements and milestones, ensuring there is effective narrative to support
        TripAdvisor’s leadership position
        • Ensuring delivery of above is coordinated across all appropriate markets
        • In the US, pitch media, including national outlets and influential tech blogs such as
        TechCrunch and Mashable to secure interviews and coverage
        • Ensuring TripAdvisor is represented at all key technology events globally, with
        speaking opportunities and/or media briefings secured accordingly with key TripAdvisor
        • Ensure there is an on-going effort to proactively build media relations with top tier
        new media
        On-going development and implementation of the overall social media strategy for the
        company, ensuring TripAdvisor effectively engages with travellers and media through all
        appropriate social media channels. This will include:
        • Overseeing management of the TripAdvisor .com Blog, Facebook and Google+ pages, and
        Twitter handle
        • Ensure there are regular communications/full editorial calendar for each, tracking
        and driving engagement levels and syndication (from the blog)
        • Liaising with internal teams around the world to align on social media communications
        and plans to ensure consistency of approach
        The Senior PR Manager will manage a team of two PR managers, based out of TripAdvisor’s
        San Francisco office.
        • BA/BS, preferably in communications, journalism or marketing-related discipline
        • Expert understanding of new media and day-to-day management of corporate social media
        • Excellent existing relations with top tier new media with demonstrable success in
        securing quality coverage in top Silicon Valley blogs, USA Today, New York Times, etc.
        • Outstanding consumer-oriented writing skills
        • Extraordinary attention-to-detail and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and
        shifting priorities Data-driven; proven experience using data, and strong quantitative
        analysis skills
        • 7+ years of relevant experience (job/internship) at reputable PR firm with prominent
        travel or web based clients preferred, or similar corporate experience via in-house
        • Creative thinker who can develop unique post and promotions ideas
        • High energy, motivated and aggressive about getting results and growing our company
        every day
        • Ability to meet and exceed deadlines
