Your responsibilities will include providing input and leadership in the New Product Development for plastics part development from concept stage through to successful production. Experience must include extensive knowledge of plastic part design, injection mold tool design and tool proofing, processing and materials. As part of a New Product Design team you will work to ensure plastic parts and tooling achieve Business Unit expectations. You will analyze plastic part design for: optimum molding process performance, Design for Lean Six Sigma, optimum tool design, and Six Sigma quality standards. Additionally you will “Design for Cost” and perform: costing analysis, capacity planning to meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Moderate to extensive travel is required.
Qualifications include a BS in Engineering in a relevant discipline, (Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering preferred), a minimum of 4 years in the design of injection molds, a minimum of 2 years of experience in tooling program management, a minimum of 4 years CAD experience and plastic part design experience. Proficient in NX is a plus. Excellent working knowledge and experience with either: CAE - MoldFlow, process simulation – and/or part and tooling DFM. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, organizational skills, project management skills, be a productive team members, and able to deliver on demanding schedules and program requirements.

Plan, organize, and conduct large plastic and tooling related projects. Develop and apply advanced engineering theories and methods. Solve complex technical problems related to plastics and / or tooling. Conduct investigations or tests of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new plastics related manufacturing operations, major production activities, equipment, product development, Supply Chain Management, Design for Lean Six Sigma, and process development. Originate improved plastic part design for cost effectiveness, quality, time-to-market, and manufacturability. Evaluate supplier capabilities. Specify equipment, materials, tooling, suppliers and supplies. Procure tooling, repair components and production parts. Apply engineering principles and practices and use advanced engineering techniques. Modify and extend theories, concepts and practices. Make decisions on engineering problems. Achieve desired results for New Product Development Programs.


Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems.
