The Forestry Technician is responsible for tree protection prescriptions and acquiring removal permits in support of gas line testing operations.
In addition the following duties are required:
Assess gas line excavation sites and evaluate potential impact to trees and vegetation
Make recommendations to construction managers and educate construction crews on tree protection measures
Research local policies and apply to local municipalities for removal permits
Implement Western ECI’s policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook
Successful employment as an Auditor / CUF / Work Planner for at least one (1) year (two years of Utility Vegetation Management experience is desired)
ISA Certified Arborist required.
Utility Specialist Certification desired
Proficient in common computer word processing, spreadsheet applications, and mapping software.
Ability to keep detailed records, including photographs and a daily log
Knowledge of landscape practices, such as branch and tree pruning, preferred
Ability to supervise and direct tree and vegetation clearing crews.
Demonstrated public relations and investigative skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills, independent decision-making skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task
Degree in Forestry or related field desired, experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture a plus.
All candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
