My client who has an excellent reputation in the Surety Fidelity Insurance arena is looking to fill a Surety Claims Examiner in the Chicago office.
Responsibilities: Handle complex performance and payment bond claims to include contractor ( principal), the owner (obligee), and the surety. You must be able to investigate properly the contract, contract process, legal position, owner and contractor. You must have an excellent knowledge of coverage issues as well as various state and federal statues to assess exposure for claims presented by owners, general contractors, subcontractors, labor and material suppliers on bonded projects. Manage completion and contractor defaults. Retain and manage outside counsel, experts and consultants in order to control expenses. Work with underwriters to determine bond and indemnity language. Attend mediations, trials, and arbitration Maintain control of reserves Requirements: 5 plus years handling performance and payment bonds - Self-starter - Law degree required from an ABA accredited law school - A valid license to practice law and admission to the Bar Association in the state where the position is located - Excellent written and verbal communication Compensation: A dynamic work environment, competitive salary, an array of attractive benefits to include 401K, Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance.
