Title: Lead Stylist
Purpose and Scope:
The Lead Stylist will manage the stylist team including Stylists, Assistant Stylist and freelance staff. The Lead Stylist will lead efforts on and off set to organize, prepare and style a wide range of merchandise to be photographed for event boutiques for luxury women’s, men’s, and kid’s fashion accessories, and home goods for our website which is key to our business success. This is a great opportunity to work closely with a wonderful group of creative people. This individual will formulate and maintain overall style and quality while managing daily production for maximum efficiency. This position will report into the Manager, Photography and Studio Operations.
Supervise Stylist team including Stylists, Assistant Stylists and freelance staff
§ Provide regular feedback and coaching to the stylist team. Identify training or development opportunities for individuals on team.
§ Complete annual performance appraisals in line with Rue La La performance management guidelines.
Run pre-production meetings and walkthroughs as necessary, gathering product in advance of shoot day, prepping when possible, and reviewing any purchase needs with Studio Manager.
Sets priorities and assigns stylists to sets based on skill and studio needs.
Maintain set with photographer to organize workload for the day in order to meet daily expectations and deadlines and to maximize efficiency
Ensure stylists maintain a fully stocked kit at all times and ordering additional supplies as needed.
§ Design and style photo sets to best showcase merchandise. Research new ideas and trends and propose innovative ideas to drive the business.
Ever mindful of the customer experience, prepare and style merchandise providing as much product detail as possible while maintaining visual appeal.
Works on set with models and photographer , styling apparel, accessories and home product for every shot. Keeps a watchful eye on hair and make-up consistency across each event.Shepherd and care for samples throughout the photo process maintaining vendor packaging, sku tags, apparel tags, cleaning make-up stains and noting any damage.
Create & elevate brand-selling experiences and style high quality product standards to ensure product shot is consistent with Rue La La look and brand
Sources Props and Materials for shoots and planning contingency plans for delayed products and samples
Additional duties in the creative and production department as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
5+ years photography styling experience freelance or for an e-commerce production studio, preferably with an emphasis in fashion or soft home
Experience with props and knowledge of styling techniques
§ Understanding of digital photography, production studio pace and efficiency
§ Background in art, design, fashion, merchandising or photography
Strong communication skills and excellent ability to work with a wide variety of people
Flexibility and patience with the ability to accommodate last minute additions to schedules and changes in direction
Ability to work with a team to accomplish deadlines and production efficiency
General interest in e-commerce and the desire to be a part of building a business
