Systems and Technology Group has opening for a power development engineer with 3 or more years experience. This role develops power supplies and power delivery components for IBM's high-end servers, including the system Z mainframe. Responsibilities span the entire range of product development from conception through delivery. Candidate will work with internal IBM personnel, suppliers and partners to design and deliver extremely high reliability, custom power regulation hardware. Bring-up and problem determination in a lab environment are key components of this job.
Engineers in this role perform in many facets of development and test, including circuit design, simulation and verification. This role works with engineers in other disciplines such as thermal, mechanical and firmware to provide a complete solution. Candidate must have experience with development of power components including buck boost, flyback and closed loop feedback controller circuits. Candidate must be proficient in the use of design tools, simulation, RAS (reliability, availability and serviceability) aspects of the implementation, as well as cost considerations. Candidate must have experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, analyzers and meters.
