The position is responsible for directing and managing the work of external foodservice broker partners to sell the Campbells foodservice portfolio through foodservice distributors, and for ensuring alignment between broker/distributors and NAFS direct sales resources that sell to large leverageable operators in core strategic segments. This position engages with Sysco and Independent Distributors at senior levels within markets/trading areas and negotiates trade contracts to drive profitable growth. This position engages with broker principles to ensure that broker sales reps effectively position and represent Campbell brands with distributors and (small street) operators. This position engages regularly with peer Operator Development Managers to ensure that efforts to drive supply (distributor management) and demand (operator development) are working in tandem to drive sustainable, profitable growth in core strategic segments. The primary purpose of this role is to achieve volume targets by driving distribution of the Campbell foodservice portfolio.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement annual sales plans with broker partnres to deliver NAFS Field Sales targets at the market level.
  • Leading the deployment of our network of broker sales partners and developing productive distributor relationships at senior levels within local markets.
  • Execute all national initiatives as required through broker partners.
  • Works with broker principles to establish annual plans and scorecards, conducts regular business reviews, and is responsible for performance managing our broker network. This may include working with broker principles to address performance concerns for individual broker representatives and/or acquiring/terminating broker relationships to ensure that we are represented by the optimal brokerage in each market.
  • P&L accountability with the Regional Business Development Manager - Operator and this role engages regularly with distributors, brokers partners, cross functional WHQ resources, and Sales Finance.
  • Performance manage broker resources, including ensuring that we are represented by the optimal broker partners in each market.
  • Build productive business relationships with SYSCO operating companies, key distributor and broker contacts.
  • Responsible for key distributor negotiations.
  • Managet and establishment of specific broker sales objectives
  • Provide sales analysis and insights as required.

Job Complexity
  • Manage and develop direct sales personnel. (provide coaching)
    Conduct strategic distributor negotiations for long term market penetration.
  • Conduct distributor product demonstration, program negotiations
  • Meet or exceed sales plan & financial objectives.
  • Analyze the business and develop strategic plans to include opportunities within distributors in core strategic segments
  • Make sound financial decisions regarding distributor programs, marketing spending and selling expenses.
  • Develop relationships, typically dealing with Director and VP levels, at all levels necessary with multi-unit accounts and large distributors.
  • Identify competitive opportunities and risks within the market and act decisively to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risk.

Job Specifications
  • Bachelors Degree coupled with 5 years foodservice sales experience
  • Prior broker or broker management experience required
  • Ability to influence and motivate others, strategic thinking ability
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Coaching and performance management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office, specifically Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Possess basic culinary and food presentation skills .
Working Conditions

Up to 70% travel required.
