Job Summary
The community relations coordinator supports development and implementation of advocacy, partnership building, and resource development for assigned local affiliates. The coordinator provides affiliate executive directors with tools and support in development and management of the affiliates community relations efforts. Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for components of the statewide volunteer program. This position reports to the chief development officer.


Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
Local Program Advocacy
Collaborate with CIS state office field support staff in developing and implementing a network support plan, and ensuring advocacy work is aligned and well communicated to CIS of Georgia and affiliate staff
Collaborate with the resource development staff to build and share processes for successful advocacy
Research and identify prospective volunteers, donors, and advocates
Work closely with identified affiliates to devise and support local campaigns that supports CIS state advocacy agenda
Provide technical assistance and training to local affiliates in organizing and conducting advocacy efforts
Track state and federal policy developments related to drop out prevention and educational reform as well as impact of local affiliate intervention on local graduation rates to craft local messaging in collaboration with the marketing department
Work with local affiliates to build relationships with key stakeholders and identify prospective board members and advocates.

Building Partnerships
Effectively communicate importance of community-based integrated student services to the corporate, non-profit, and philanthropic entities to ultimately engage these entities in a mutually beneficial key partnerships
Design, facilitate and/or coordinate trainings to adequately inform affiliates of methods by which to leverage key partnerships and mobilize interest into active participation

Volunteer Mobilization:
Identify and engage community leaders in volunteer activities and re-engaging previous volunteers as appropriate.
Work closely with affiliates, local chambers of commerce and local corporations to identify and engage philanthropists, corporate leaders and key community leaders
Match volunteers to appropriate opportunities ensuring a positive experience for the affiliate and volunteer
Provide ongoing guidance for volunteers and matched organization to deepen engagement and affiliate support
Evaluate effectiveness of volunteer programs and address deficiencies while creating opportunities for sharing best practices

Organizational Functions
Document affiliate support and contact using CISdm and prospect management software
Manage training and advocacy budgets as assigned
Maintain a working knowledge of Communities In Schools activities, trends in resource development, advocacy, educational reform and other components key to effectively performing duties
Travel to local affiliates, the CIS of Georgia state office, and all meeting and training venues
Work in committees internal and external to CIS of Georgia and attend committee functions as appropriate
Support, assist in, participate and attend all staff wide events and meetings
Assist in grant development, writing and management as appropriate
Compile information to highlight program progress at required intervals
Perform other duties as assigned


Position Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
Bachelors degree with coursework in business administration, communications or social science from an accredited university. Post baccalaureate education preferred
