The Test Engineer, Manager will report into the Director of Test Engineering and is responsible for providing management and oversight of Quality and DevOps functions within a technical domain. This person will be a key member of the Test Engineering team, responsible for managing distributed teams, delivering on-time and within budget results for complex cross-functional software releases, and contributing to the development and implementation of standards and best practices. The person in this leadership position will work with product management, security professionals, technology professionals and customers to ensure that we produce high quality products that exceed expectations. This is a challenging and also very rewarding position where interesting projects in security are implemented in order to maintain our market leading position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage activities of individual contributors.
Drive test planning and test execution including
Responsible for design, implementation and execution of the automation strategy.
Must be familiar with and have experience in driving the DevOps functions within the Quality Engineering organization.
Create a sense of ownership and pride in the quality of the product.
Ensure the productivity and accountability of a geographically diverse team.
Coach and develop team members and provide career path direction.
Assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.
Responsible for performance management, and establishing and executing against actionable and measurable team goals.
Collaborate and influence cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise quality solutions, drive best practices and standards, and report on quality metrics.
Execution of a quality strategy to help drive excellence across services and the platform.
Interface with stakeholders in Product Management, Operations and Software Development to ensure completion of software projects on time and budget.
Ability to work with senior management on the engineering and business direction of the organization. Responsible for solving highly technical and complex problems.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 10+ years’ experience with 5+ of managerial/leadership experience.
Experience working with geographically distributed development centers.
Able to apply Software Lifecycle and Quality Assurance methodologies in a cost-effective manner, to bring high-quality products to market on time. Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, work independently and as part of a team following established guidelines
Proven solid analytical and problem solving skills and ability to drive value add test automation strategies
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with peers, management and staff, and internal/external business partners/customers.
Experience with distributed systems utilizing a hybrid environment, and building high quality and high performance systems.
Strong background in UNIX/Linux command line usage
Testing and Debugging Experience in a UNIX environment
