Responsible for the administration and maintenance of database systems. This role is required to monitor and evaluate database performance, oversee database backups and recovery activities, ensure database integrity, administer database security, troubleshoot database problems,, and perform other routine database administration functions. Individual provides assistance to application support staff on a day to day basis. Individual works closely with Systems Administrators for the implementation of new systems or maintenance of existing systems. Individual reviews the status of assigned project tasks on a weekly basis with the manager and staff of the Server Support Team. Individual attends conferences and seminars as needed to obtain specific knowledge.
Individual understands a systems approach to problem solving. Individual has a solid understanding of database structures, Structured Query Language (SQL), and a working knowledge of server operating systems such as UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows, or AS/400. Individual possesses a strong working knowledge of one or more of the following database systems and their associated applications: Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL, DB2, or Intersystems' Caché. Individual has the ability to work with multiple departments and facilities in providing necessary administration and maintenance of databases and related software applications used throughout the health system.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree.
If applicable, must complete the Caché System Manager training and pass the Caché System Manager certification exam within 12 months of the date of hire into position.
