About Baystate Health
Baystate Health is an integrated health care delivery system serving a population of nearly 1 million people in western Massachusetts. Baystate Medical Center is the Western Campus of Tufts University School of Medicine, has the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the region and the only neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
Possesses and utilizes technical skills, training, and knowledge of principles, techniques and equipment to collect whole blood donations via venipuncture from blood donors. Participates in blood drives conducted on the bloodmobile. Performs donor registration, donor medical interviews, and mini physical exams and determines elligibility of a person to donate blood.
Equivalent to high school diploma plus additional specialized phlebotomy training is required.
Expertise in phlebotomy procedures. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions. Excellent communication skills.
At least one year of experience as a phlebotomist is required.
Demonstrates the ability to correctly determine eligibility of a person to donate blood and can successfully collect blood donations evidenced by a minimum of missed venipunctures.
Phlebotomy certification by accredited certification agency required.
Part-time, 28 hours per week
Hours divided into different length shifts; will include evenings, weekends and holidays
Schedule is very much dependent on the length of the blood drives that are scheduled.
Candidate must be flexible with work schedule.
