NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty by providing food and nutrition services to individuals and families through public health programs; and performs related work as required or assigned.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
One (1) year of experience in nutrition or health related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience education, and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license.
EXAMPLES OF WORK :
(Illustrative Only) Determines program eligibility in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and procedures; explains program procedures, regulations, processes and timeframes to applicants and representatives; conducts interviews and accurately documents information on residency, income and family situation in a computerized participant database; obtains, evaluates and documents measurements of stature, weight, hemoglobin; conducts nutrition assessments; provides participant centered nutrition education to participants individually or in groups according to age, category, health risks and family needs; assigns appropriate food package for eligible participants based on age, category, health risks and family needs; evaluates family needs for health care, financial and social assistance in order to make and document appropriate referrals; promotes breastfeeding and breastfeeding support activities; plans and participates in community outreach activities; performs Certification Specialist duties; regular and reliable attendance is required, and other duties as required or assigned.
