The employee in this position serves as a permanent, full-time Administrative Support Assistant for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region 6, Montana Ecological Services Field Office, located in Helena, Montana.

- Responsible for financial tracking and monitoring, procurement/purchasing, travel, property management, information technology support, employee time and attendance reports, recording and entering personnel actions, and assisting with budget development and execution.
- Provides fiscal and administrative guidance to field station personnel related to current policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Responsible for budget tracking, continual review, monitoring, and overall budgetary process of various resources based funds, maintenance funds, contributed funds, etc.
- Assists in reviewing, compiling, developing and preparing budget cost estimates and justifications to support the programs and activities of the field office.
- Responsible for procurement of all supplies, equipment, services, and repairs. Determines appropriate source of supply, obtains competitive bids when required, and prepares sufficient justification. Purchases supplies and equipment using Government credit card.
- Ensures that required documentation is submitted to the Regional Office for a variety of personnel actions and enters the electronic personnel action request in the integrated personnel/payroll system.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
GS-06: One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05 grade level is qualifying for GS-06) that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying specialized experience for this position is assistant or technician work related to budgetary or financial data reporting and tracking. In addition, this experience must include general office assistance, as well as either procurement or human resources.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience regardless of whether compensation was received or whether the experience was gained in a part-time or full-time occupation. Full-time work is generally considered to be 35 to 40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in qualifying activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
Applicant referral may be conducted utilizing a Two-Phase process. If the Two-Phase process is used, Phase 1 will consist of a review against the criteria described in this announcement to determine a pool of applicants for the Best Qualified category, who in turn will be further evaluated in Phase 2.
