Responsibilities of the employee include: 1) data collection, compilation, and management of disease reports, investigations and surveys; data analysis; data transmission to the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC); and data reporting, including response to special data requests; and generation of reports and summaries; 2) manage and coordinate multiple infectious disease surveillance systems, e.g., WVEDSS, NBS-WVEDSS, NETSS, hepatitis-C registry, etc.; 3) conceptualize, plan and systematically organize the production of reports and feedbacks from the surveillance program, utilizing appropriate statistical tools and software; 4) lead projects, provide technical assistance, training sessions, and lectures; 5) provide consultation on situations that may impact the surveillance system, prepare a work strategy in collaboration with other staff, and choose appropriate sources of information and data; 6) monitors data sources to assure completeness and accuracy of information. Works collaboratively with staff to assure that data problems (completeness and accuracy) are resolved. Publishes written summary of important results. Work is reviewed by supervisor prior to publication or being released to the press, federal agencies, or agency management. Preference may be given to candidates with experience in statistical analysis using software such as SAS, EPI Info, STATA or SPSS.

Training: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university including a course in methods of research and/or statistics or mathematics.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience in research and statistical data compilation may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in research, statistical, or other analysis in the area of assignment or a related area.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in statistical analysis using software such as SAS, EPI Info, STATA or SPSS

Substitution: A Master's Degree in business administration, public administration, mathematics, statistics, operations research or related curricula may be substituted for the required experience.
