Description
The Proposal Writer plays a key role in asset generation and client retention by developing compelling proposals and client materials aimed at executing on sales and client service objectives. The Proposal Writer is responsible for managing the proposal process in its entirety, serving as writer, project manager and search/tender champion. The Proposal Writer will collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization and, as necessary, with key external constituents, including consultants, clients and prospects. The Proposal Writer partners with key stakeholders enterprise-wide - including Legal, Compliance, Investments, Product Management/Development, Sales - to ensure proper positioning and messaging of the firm’s products, staff, protocols and services in proposal and client materials, which include RFIs, RFPs, DDQs and other client materials. The Proposal Writer effectively manages projects to completion, adhering to strict deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Create compelling and impactful proposals that properly message firm and product capabilities and competitive advantages
  • Assist in the RFP vetting process, partnering with Sales as appropriate
  • Tailor standard content for customization based on individual client/prospect
  • Self-edit work
  • Collaborate with key business partners enterprise-wide
  • Remain apprised of firm/product developments
  • Contribute effective content to content management system
  • Seek opportunities to add value, enhance processes/procedures, improve content, etc.
  • Conduct complex data analysis and incorporate data into proposal materials as appropriate
  • Build and maintain relationships with Subject Matter Experts across the firm to facilitate strong partnership during the proposal development process
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of and previous experience in the institutional investment management business
  • Strong knowledge of the RFP process and experience in developing compelling proposal materials
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects to successful completion
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client relations skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of a team
  • Expert proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive and resourceful
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Previous content management system experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA, CFA or advanced degree in business or communications
  • 5 years writing experience in the institutional investment management industry
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; preferably in Finance, English, Journalism or Communications
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Overtime may be required on short notice and may include evening, weekend, holiday hours
  • Typical office environment with telephone, copier, fax machine, calculator, etc.
  • PC usage up to 70% of the time
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis, if needed
