s Operations and Services has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Truck Driver in our Traffic Department at our Suffolk location.
Under the direction of the Traffic Manager, jockeys trailers to support the Inbound and Outbound operations. Jockeys trailers to the warehouse doors and in the yard in accordance with the established daily schedule. Moves full and empty trailers to the appropriate receiving door for loading/unloading. Removes empty/full trailers from the warehouse doors and drops in the yard in accordance with current operating principles. Audits trailer seals on all Inbound loads. Inspects empty trailers prior to loading. Maintains the yard in a clean and orderly manner. Responds to priority needs as notified. Inspects tractor at start of daily operations to ensure it is in good operating condition. Coordinates repairs and/or fueling with the leasing company. Downloads manifest information from the PC and audits truckloads. Performs other traffic functions as necessary on the weekends and/or after hours, i.e., handles drivers, dispatches and schedules trailers, completes paperwork, etc. Follows all security and safety policies and procedures in the operation of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School diploma or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A valid Virginia Commercial Drivers License (Class A Only).
Current medical certificate as required by Virginia state law.
A clear DMV driver’s record is required at the time of the interview.
Tractor trailer experience.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Good working knowledge of PC operations and database programs (including MS office, Excel, Access, and Lotus Notes).
