East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp. is currently recruiting an Office Assistant for a busy medical practice in Valley Stream, NY.
Office Assistants serve as a liaison between patients, practitioners (Orthotic Fitters), physicians, and the financial services of East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp. The position is based in a Valley Stream medical office, but an Office Assistant's day will start in Deer Park at the corporate headquarters at least two days per week where they will report to the Customer Service Manager and also work with the Purchasing / Inventory Department to pick up devices.
This full-time position works flexible hours (M-F) and is primarily responsible for ensuring our clinical staff remain organized and up-to-speed in a very busy environment. Experience in a medical setting is critical and candidates with little to no customer service / assistant position experience should not apply. This is an entry-level position with room for growth.
Greet patients in a professional, friendly and courteous manner
Assist clinical staff members in obtaining patient demographics, filling out charts completely and distributing patient surveys
Maintain practioners' schedules and schedule follow-up appointments
Calculate patient deductibles and co-insurance, when applicable
Must be able to travel daily between Deer Park and Valley Stream and work flexible hours (M-F)
Candidates who have excellent customer service skills who enjoy working in a fast-paced medical environment are encouraged to apply
Bi-lingual Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred
Must be computer savvy and have strong data entry, general math skills and financial skills
Schedules are maintained in Google Calendar (knowledge preferred)
Ability to understand and meet patient and physician needs
Strong attention to detail under pressure
Must be a team player with a positive attitude
