Performs delegated duties related to patient admission, recovery, discharge, and endoscopy procedures. Maintains cleanliness of unit and endoscopic equipment. Provides clerical support, orders supplies and runs errands.
Under the general direction the Manager/Clinical Leader of Endoscopy and the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and within established policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:
Essential Functions: Escorts patients to Endoscopy Unit for nursing assessment pre-procedures. Assists with transferring patients onto stretcher or wheelchair and transports them as directed. Performs messenger/transport duties as necessary. Responds to patient requests including, but not limited to, positioning, providing food, beverages and warm blankets as needed.Books procedures for GI and family practice offices. Answers, screens, forwards and relays messages of incoming calls to appropriate individuals. Contacts physicians and ancillary departments as directed. Relays messages in a timely manner. Performs routine data entry including ordering supplies and entering patient charges.Maintains appropriate level of clean linens and supplies; order, folds and restocks linens.Maintains adequate stock of special order equipment.Performs routine cleaning of patient care areas including, but not limited to, stretchers, utility room and nourishment area.Assumes accountability for number and content of patient charts needed on unit.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of one year’s experience in a hospital/clinical setting required. Previous health care experience in a similar capacity on a Gastrointestinal Unit preferred/but not required.
Licensure/Certification: Current Nurses Aide Certification in the State of New Hampshire
