Works under the general supervision of the Public Safety Information System Manager or designee(s) and performs a variety of skilled administrative, professional, and technical computer-related support services for all Public Safety Personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
Installs and maintains CAD software.

Troubleshoots problems with CAD software e.g. network, operating systems, and software configuration.

Supports connectivity of Sarpy County with Douglas County 911 and Sarpy County Public Safety Agencies.

Supports data transfer from the CAD system to other Public Safety systems.

Acts as the contact person for Sarpy County with software vendors, reporting and assisting with troubleshooting problems with CAD software.

Assists with the maintenance of Code tables within the CAD software.

Assists with collecting and submitting enhancement requests to software vendors for future releases.

Maintains professional level of knowledge of the CAD policies, procedures, and software functionality.

Assists with upgrades of the CAD software and hardware.

Assists with training users on CAD software procedures and functionality.

Performs other duties related to CAD software and hardware as assigned.

Law Records Management System (LRMS)

Installs and maintains LRMS software.

Troubleshoots problems with LRMS software e.g. network, operating systems, and software configuration.

Supports connectivity between Sarpy County and Sarpy County Public Safety Agencies.

Maintains the documentation and training of Sarpy County Public Safety Entities personnel on using InfoTrak Investigative Query (IIQ).

Acts as the contact person for Sarpy County with software vendors, reporting and assisting with troubleshooting problems with LRMS software.

Assists with the maintenance of Code tables within the LRMS software.

Maintains users on the LRMS server.

Supports data transfer of CAD data to the LRMS system.

Assists with collecting and submitting enhancement requests to software vendors for future releases.

Maintains professional level of knowledge of the LRMS policies, procedures, and software functionality.

Assists with upgrades of the LRMS software and hardware.

Assists with training users on LRMS software procedures and functionality.

Performs other duties related to LRMS software and hardware as assigned.

Premier Mobile Data Computer (PMDC)

Installs and maintains PMDC software.

Troubleshoots problems with PMDC software e.g. network, operating systems, and software configuration.

Supports connectivity of Sarpy County with Sarpy County Public Safety Agencies and Sarpy County Public Safety vehicles.

Acts as the contact person for Sarpy County with software vendors, reporting and assisting with troubleshooting problems with PMDC software.

Assists with the maintenance of Code tables within the PMDC software.

Maintains professional level of knowledge of the PMDC policies, procedures, and software functionality.

Assists with upgrades of the PMDC software and hardware.

Assists with training users on PMDC software procedures and functionality.

Performs other duties related to PMDC software and hardware as assigned.

Fire Records Management Systems (FRMS)

Installs and maintains FRMS software.

Troubleshoots problems with FRMS software e.g. network, operating systems, and software configuration.

Supports connectivity between Sarpy County and Sarpy County Fire Agencies.

Supports data transfer from the CAD system into the FRMS systems.

Acts as the contact person for Sarpy County with software vendors, reporting and assisting with troubleshooting problems with FRMS software.

Maintains professional level of knowledge of the FRMS software and data transfer functionality.

Maintains professional level of knowledge of Sarpy County Fire Agencies, and the policies & procedures for Fire and EMS incident data.

Verifies accuracy of, export the Fire (NEFIRS) data from FRMS, and submit to the Fire Marshal’s Office for the State of Nebraska.

Verifies accuracy of, export the EMS (NARSIS) data from FRMS, and submit to Health & Human Services for the State of Nebraska.

Assists with training users on FRMS software procedures and functionality.

Assists with the maintenance of Code tables within the FRMS software.

Performs other duties related to FRMS software and hardware as assigned.

National Crime Information Center (NCIC)
Installs DataMaxx Software and maintains listing of ORI’s.

Troubleshoots problems with NCIC software e.g. network, operating systems, and software configuration.

Works with the Nebraska State Patrol in maintaining usernames and resetting passwords.

Supports connectivity between Sarpy County 911 Center and the Nebraska State Patrol.

Acts as the contact person for Sarpy County with software vendors, reporting and assisting with troubleshooting problems with NCIC software.

Performs other duties related to DataMaxx software and hardware as assigned.

Sarpy County E-911 Map

Provides assistance with answering questions with ArcMap/Mapping and Advanced Tactical Mapping (ATM) with current Sarpy County mapping editor.

Provides assistance with answering questions regarding police beats, fire districts, reports districts, and city limits to the current Sarpy County mapping editor.

Performs other duties related to ArcMap/Mapping software and hardware as assigned.

Other Public Safety Information Systems Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Upgrades existing PC software and operating systems, assesses future need for upgrades.

Troubleshoots and diagnose PC software/hardware problems.

Maintains high level of knowledge of current and emerging versions of PC software.

Supports users’ network accounts and files.

Ensures timely deployment of all desktops and laptops.

Assists in keeping the office area clean and orderly.

Actively participates as a member of on-call rotation for after hour’s issues and maintains accurate descriptions for all communications requesting support.

Maintains accurate weekly reports detailing projects worked on during the week, submitted to the Public Safety Manager weekly, documenting the overall time and percent of time spent on each project.

Maintains listing of IP address information for all Public Safety Entities servers, routers, wireless connections, printers, and workstations that have a CAD console installed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Peripheral Duties
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.

Assists with training new users on systems .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Two-year degree from a college/technical training program, and (2) years* of related experience.

Certification in Personal Computer Software and Operating Systems preferred.

*Approved education beyond high school in specified field of study may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for one year of the required work experience.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge, experience with, and use of various PC Software Packages, Operating Systems, PC hardware and networking.

Strong customer relationship and crisis management skills.

Ability to successfully troubleshoot and correct PC hardware problems.

Ability to design, plan; ability to meet project deadlines.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and employees.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidentiality of all departmental communications, documents and information.

Ability to complete background investigation.

Ability to obtain and maintain a conditional certificate of the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS).

Special Requirements
Valid State Operator's license and ability to meet and maintain Sarpy County ‘acceptable driver’ standards.
