Under the direction of the Director of Data Management the IT Analyst EDW ETL Developer will be responsible for mapping data sources, data movement, data quality checks, and reconciliation of extract transform and load processes. This position will provide data analysis and data profiling to identify gaps, inconsistencies and data quality issues existing in source systems. The EDW ETL Developer will collaborate with EDW DBA, users, BI developers, and IT to identify and correct data quality issues and develop technical solutions that will maintain data quality for the enterprise data warehouse. This position will be principally responsible for managing and maintaining ETL process as well as data maps including but not limited to master data management systems and data processing rule dictionaries. This position will work closely with the EDW team, DBAs and BI Developers, as well as users, stakeholders, and IT personnel to create best practice ETL processes while providing regular and timing data updates to the data warehouse. The EDW ETL Developer will establish policy and standards for programming and utilizing ETL tools. These standards will include data quality standards, programming code standards, and metadata standards. The ETL developer will be responsible for code review of BI developers as well as be responsible for implementing and maintaining the ETL programs produced by the BI developers. In conjunction with the EDW DBA, this position will setup the processing standard for all ETL projects including the scheduling of processes, the archive of projects, and version control of all ETL projects. This position will serve as a secondary support in the absence of the EDW DBA for managing maintenance plans and backups of the enterprise data warehouse and will be the point of contact to IT in the absence of the EDW DBA. Given the largest majority of primary source data will emanate from Keck Medical Center of USC's instance of Cerner Millennium, familiarity with underlying Cerner data model and database architecture is preferred. Any experience in managing healthcare data strongly preferred.

Requirements

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience or certifications.
Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
  • 3 or more years of related experience including data warehouse database management, Extract Transform and Load (ETL) programming, data interface design, and extensive experience using modern ETL tools highly preferred. Experience working with big data is desired. Appropriate industry certification preferred. Prior experience with electronic health record data in a complex clinical environment preferred. Understanding of or exposure to healthcare (clinical/financial) operations preferred.
Required License/Certification:
  • A Fire and Safety card must be presented upon hire or must be obtained at our facility within the first 90 days of hire and maintained by renewing before expiration date.
