ITT Exelis, Information Systems, is seeking a Mid/Sr. level Physicist to support our Navy customer in Colorado Springs, CO.
Candidate will work with a team of nuclear hardening experts to provide analysis for radiation effects on modern weapon systems, including both electrical and mechanical responses to radiation. Strong technical cpabilities in radiation transport and in the interpretation and design of radiation transport models. Must have a thorough understanding of material response to x-rays, gamma rays, and neutrons. Must not only be capable of performing analyses but also must have strong writing and communication skills to present results to customers and peers.
Position requires a minimum of a Master's Degree in Physics or Nuclear Engineering with 5+ years of experience in radiation effects and a strong background in nuclear/atomic physics and nuclear vulnerability analyses. A PHD is highly desired and will be given preference in consideration.
Experience with radiation transport methods (deterministic and Monte Carlo) is desirable, including experience with codes such as ANISN, CEPXS/ONELD, and MCNP. Proficient in FORTRAN, C, C++, MS Office. Experience with UNIX essential.
Familiarity with modern scientific computational techniques is a strong plus. Experience with Mathematica and scientific plotting software helpful.
Position requires ability to obtain and maintain a US DOD Secret clearance which requires a US citizen; a current active clearance is required to start.
