Participates in design, development and implementation of architectural deliverables, to include components of the assessment and optimization of system design and review of user requirements. Contributes to the determination of technical and operational feasibility of solutions. Develops prototypes of the system design and works with database, operations, technical support and other IT areas as appropriate throughout development and implementation processes. May lead multiple projects with competing deadlines. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations, as well as mentor junior band 5 Architect 1's. Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 7 or more years of architecture experience.

*Network Tool application analysis, development and modification
*Provides design recommendations for developing and integrating programs per written specifications
*Adheres to Application Engineering guidelines, processes and procedures and champions the use of these within teams, looking for ways in which to continuously improve them
*Ensures appropriate business measures are defined in partnership with the business, and in conjunction with the Service Delivery team
*Utilizes multiple database languages (SQL, Oracle & DB2) and software technologies to ensure that applications, data and integration architecture are fit for purpose and are maintainable going forward
*May be required to undertake some database development work
*Contributes to the development of information models, such as entity relationship diagrams and objects
*Analyses service level issues and suggested enhancements which have been escalated by the Service Delivery Team, in order to diagnose and address underlying system problems and inefficiencies
*Makes complex modifications to existing network software applications and modules in accordance with high-level specifications, application support, and industry standards
*Assesses and makes recommendations for buy versus build decisions. This may result in a decision to purchase, develop in-house or go with a third party vendor. The outcome needs to ensure optimal value for the business in terms of the total cost of ownership for the system
*Tests and implements cross-business applications
*Participates in technical design and also engages with third party suppliers on support issues

Qualifications

*Required Skills: "Must" have these skills to be minimally qualified.

*College degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience
*Typically requires 7+ years of Database /application development work experience
*Holds comprehensive expertise in the software development and release management process
*Requires experience or understanding of multiple database languages (SQL, DB2 and Oracle), ITSM systems (Maximo and BMC), as well as systems design and project management methodologies
