Technical Aide, Engineer

SUMMARY

An Engineering Technical Aide is responsible for learning technical functions in support of engineering activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works as a trainee or helper; has little or no formal mechanical training; has sufficient reading competence to read manufacturers' equipment and maintenance manuals.

Provide professional support to the engineering department by collecting and analyzing data for continuous process improvement initiatives.

Performs other related duties as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.

JOB COMPLEXITY

Works on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A sophomore level standing or higher in engineering course work leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aeronautical Engineering from a four-year college or university, as well as the ability to work full, 40-hour weeks. Minimum 3.0 overall GPA.

The ability to collect and analyze data

An interest in the aerospace industry

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
