JOB TITLE: STAFF PHYSICIAN EXEMPT STATUS: EXEMPT FROM OVERTIME

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: NONE

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Graduate of a nationally accredited program for Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

Licensed to work in the state of North Carolina as a physician.

Prefer board certification in hospice and palliative care, geriatrics and/or oncology.

Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance required.

Hospital privileges at Pardee and Park Ridge (or in the process of obtaining).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides direct patient care, as attending or consulting physician, to hospice patients in the hospice inpatient facility, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and/or patient homes.
  • Reviews patient histories and obtains current History & Physicals for hospice patients.
  • Assesses patients for pain and symptom management.
  • Prescribes necessary medication for pain and symptom management.
  • Provides medical aspects of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team of attending physicians, nurses, social workers, certified nursing assistants, chaplains.
  • Actively participates in weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings for development and evaluation of the patient¬ís plan of care.
  • Practices safety and/or infection control methods.
  • Helps facilitate creation and tracking of patient data and records.
  • Maintains current knowledge base and appropriate licensure.
  • Maintains relationships with community physicians. JOB TITLE: STAFF PHYSICIAN (Page 2) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
