JOB SUMMARY This job is responsible for providing direct spiritual care services to patients, families and staff, and for participating in the Supervisory Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program and the FHS Spiritual Care Team. Provides individual and group spiritual care to patients, families and staff of FHS facilities, performing all required resident chaplain functions (see Resident Chaplain – job ) Actively involves him/herself in self care and all aspects of the supervisory training program, including participation in all required functions with open processing of supervisory work and learning.

Works toward certification by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) as a CPE Supervisor, preferably in a three-year time frame to Associate Supervisor certification. Collaborates with the CPE Educator and Manager of CPE in maintaining the dual accreditation of the FHS CPE program by the ACPE and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops-Commission on Certification and Accreditation (USCCB-CCA) Collaborates with FHS physicians, social workers, nursing staff and spiritual care team members regarding holistic wellness perspectives, working to heighten awareness of the importance of including care of diverse religious and cultural issues/values in treatment and recovery. Promotes hospice, FHS and CPE in local churches and other venues appropriate for incorporating a holistic health philosophy and FHS values Collaborates with performance improvement projects to integrate spiritual perspectives into all aspects of the FHS. If assigned to Franciscan Hospice: Under administrative supervision of the Hospice Supervisor of Spiritual Care Services and the CPE Manager, coordinates spiritual care work of all levels of CPE students in Hospice, including student orientation, quality of documentation, effectiveness of patient/family assessment and interdisciplinary team participation.

Consults with Hospice CPE students when requested or required by emergence of problems with quality of work, patron complaints or team conflict. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications Education/Work Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Psychology or related discipline, Association of Theology School Master of Divinity degree, successful completion of four units of ACPE-accredited clinical pastoral education and three years of pastoral care/ministry work experience. Licensure/Certification Certifiable as a professional chaplain by an association member of the Spiritual Care Collaborative.
