Cargill Corn Milling North America is one of the world's leading producers of corn sweeteners. In addition to manufacturing high fructose corn syrup, used in soft drinks and other food and beverage applications, we make corn syrups, dextrose syrups and sucrose that are used in a variety of confectionery, brewing, food and pharmaceutical applications. Position Overview

Provide day to day trouble shooting of process control problems. Provide programming for process control projects for both capital and expense work following site standards. Provide programming and support for other miscellaneous systems as web servers and electrical meters. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited too, reliability centered maintenance, Root cause analysis, data historian programming, documentation, and control system upgrades.

Principal Accountabilities

45% - Execution of automation solutions used for controlling plant processes. Will involve design and configuration of control systems and oversight of electrical & instrumentation functions related to projects. Will be required to obtain knowledge of plant processes, specifically corn milling.

25% - Design & implement control strategies based on current best practice standards, CMO, and approved components.

20% - Work in both the fix/support & project areas as needed for reliability improvements. Provide training for completed projects.

10% - Training & development courses by HR, vendors, & outside consultants.



BS Technical or Eng degree OR Associates technical degree plus 3 yrs AEI experience OR 5 years AEI experience.

2 years AEI experience (for a total of 7 yrs of AEI experience if no type of degree or a total of 5 yrs of AEI experience with Associates technical degree).

Must have an understanding of continuous & batch process control strategies.

Delta V DCS experience

Knowledge of IEC 61131

Understanding of common software application development tools.

Must be able to design and troubleshoot a range of electrical and instrumentation systems.

Ability to read and update electrical schematics.

Design and implementation knowledge of plant digital bus technologies.

Good communication and organization skills.

Must work well as part of a team or alone and be a self-starter.


ISA CAP certification desired. Will be expected to complete certification if not done already.

Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance.

Fisher Provox knowledge/experience.

TI, Allen Bradley, Modicon PLC knowledge/experience.

Must be able to configure & program a variety of control systems including DCS, PLC, and HMI systems.

Corn milling process knowledge.
