Job Title: Hot Plant Groundsperson
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Hot Plant Groundman is responsible for ensuring the hot plant and the various operational structures of the plant and are in top working order. Works under the supervision of the Hot Plant Operator. Primarily work up to 10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Will also be required to work up to 14 hours per day, and up to 7 days per week as needed during the busy construction season. This position may require traveling for extended periods of time to perform the job duties at various jobsite locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in daily THINK meetings plus weekly safety meetings.
Follows the Asphalt Best Practice Groundman Training Manual daily.
Assists in plant production of materials and ensures for the efficient working condition of the plant.
Stockpiles materials and feeds hot plant from the stockpiles in an efficient and productive manner.
Ensures that all assigned equipment is properly maintained, clean, in safe working order and operated properly.
Prepares plant for operations at the beginning of the season, and performs shut down procedures at the end of the season.
Operates front end loader, skidsteer, end dump truck and other heavy equipment as needed.
Performs plant maintenance and repairs, including welding tasks.
Performs set up and take down of traveling plants at different job site locations as required.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) prefered.
Welding and fabrication experience required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
