Company Overview

ConocoPhillips is the world’s largest independent upstream energy company, based on proved reserves and production of liquids and natural gas. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company had operations in almost 30 countries and approximately 16,700 employees as of May 1, 2012, with 2011 average production of 1.62 million BOE per day and proved reserves of 8.4 billion BOE as of Dec. 31, 2011.

Alaska Business Unit Overview:
ConocoPhillips Alaska and its heritage companies have more than 50 years of business history in Alaska. As Alaska's largest oil and gas producer, the company produced an average 215,000 barrels of oil and 60 million cubic feet of gas per day in 2011. ConocoPhillips, with about 1,100 Alaska employees, holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, the Colville River Unit (Alpine), and the Cook Inlet Area. ConocoPhillips operates the Greater Kuparuk Area and Alpine oil fields as well as the Kenai Liquefied Natural Gas Plant, North Cook Inlet platform and Beluga River Unit gas field. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.

ConocoPhillips operates the Greater Kuparuk Area (GKA), the second largest oil field in the USA. GKA contains both heavy and light oil reservoirs that are produced via waterflood and miscible injectant methodologies. GKA contains three Central Processing Facilities (CPF) that gather, separate, and process hydrocarbons, denoted CPF1, CPF2, and CPF3. Currently, the five fields in GKA produce in excess of 125,000 bopd. The field contains vertical wells, highly deviated wells, and extended reach horizontal and multi-lateral wells producing from highly faulted sandstone reservoirs.
