Job Description
Intramural and Club Sports Graduate Assistant Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Intramural and Club Sports Coordinator, this person is responsible for assisting in the planning, development and implementation of intramural sports and club sports. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing and conducting training clinics; recruiting, training, scheduling and evaluating student employees, along with staff development; promoting intramural and club sports; and assisting with student payroll, policy development, and the equipment inventory/purchasing process as necessary. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with campus wide special events, student services special events, and assist in all related administrative duties. A combined workload of 20 hours per week is expected. Evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Fitness Graduate Assistant Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Fitness Coordinator, this person is responsible for assisting in the planning, development and implementation of the fitness center and group exercise. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing and conducting training sessions; recruiting, training, scheduling and evaluating student employees, along with staff development; promoting the fitness center and group exercise classes; and assisting with student payroll, policy development, and the equipment inventory/purchasing process as necessary. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with campus wide special events, student services special events, and assist in all related administrative duties. A combined workload of 20 hours per week is expected. Evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Intramural and Club Sports, and Fitness Term of Contract:

August 2013 May 2014; with possible summer employment. Evaluation at the end of the first term is required before second year appointment.

Salary: Tuition waiver plus a stipend of $7,500/year (employee is responsible for student fees).

Requirements
Intramurals and Club Sports GA Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in recreation, sports management, sports medicine or related field; Admission into UL Lafayette graduate program; One year intramural sports work experience (scorekeeper, supervisor, or official); Demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of sports (flag-football, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, etc); Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills; Current Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications (or able to obtain them within the first month of employment); Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum 9 hours per semester) to receive graduate assistantship, stipend, and tuition waivers

Preferred Qualifications: High school officiating certification in Basketball and/or Flag Football and/or Soccer; Current Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer; Participation in one or more extramural tournaments; Experience in the administration of a Sport Club Program; Demonstrated ability to train team sports officials

Fitness GA Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Recreation or related field; Admission into a UL Lafayette graduate program; Experience in fitness facility management/operations; professionalism; Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills; Current Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications (or able to obtain them within the first month of employment); Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum 9 hours per semester) to receive graduate assistantship, stipend, and tuition waivers

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to work with diverse group; Aspirations to become Campus Recreation professional; experience with group fitness instruction; current Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer; One of the following certifications: ACSM, NSCA, AFAA, ACE or other recognized certifying organization related to fitness.
