Minimum Requirements: 
B.S. or B.A. degree (minimum) required in Biology, Wildlife Ecology, Forestry, Botany or related fields. At least 2 years of relevant work experience. A Masters or PhD degree in biology or other biology-related discipline may substitute for up to 1 years of work experience, depending upon the nature of the graduate work. 
Experience assisting, conducting and/or leading field surveys. Examples would include avian surveys, preconstruction surveys or monitoring, small mammal trapping, rare plant surveys, or vegetation mapping. 
Strong natural history and field skills. Must be able to identify, or learn to identify, California wildlife and plant species. 
Construction monitoring experience. 
Must be comfortable with occasional extended field deployments, and conducting field work in inclement weather. 
Report preparation such as: Biological Assessments, Natural Environment Studies, monitoring reports, technical reports, and/or memorandums. Writing samples must be provided upon request. 
Familiarity with environmental laws including NEPA, CEQA, ESA Section 7 or 10, and CESA as they relate to biological resources. 
Ability to communicate professionally, respectfully and effectively with coworkers, clients, and contractors. 
This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job Description:
The URS Oakland biology practice is seeking a full time general Biologist to add to our existing biology practice of over 35 biologists. The ideal candidate has experience conducting field work and/or construction monitoring in California and would complement our talented staff, expand our capabilities, and work within our successful interdisciplinary wetland, wildlife, and botany teams. We are seeking a
technically skilled individual, capable of conducting and leading field surveys; can perform construction monitoring independently as needed; someone who works well with a diverse staff; and someone that can deliver basic technical documents. A successful candidate will utilize these skills to provide technical expertise, conduct surveys for California flora and fauna, perform preconstruction
surveys and monitoring, prepare technical reports, interact with other biologists and disciplines within URS, and work closely with clients and regulatory agencies.
