Northeastern University seeks to make interdisciplinary appointments in fields broadly relating to drug discovery and development. Current focus areas include Drug Discovery, Bioanalytical Chemistry, Polymer & Biomaterials Science & Engineering, Tissue Engineering, Stem Cell Technology and Regenerative Medicine. Appointments at the rank of Full or Associate Professor are anticipated. Northeastern may also consider a multidisciplinary `cluster hire' where several candidates elect to form a team which proposes an innovative and translational research direction responding to one or more of these positions.
Candidates are expected to work with faculty members across the University, and particularly across the relevant Colleges, in developing scholarship and interdisciplinary funding opportunities at the intersection of traditional disciplines. Successful candidates will hold tenure within departments in one of Northeastern's Colleges - the College of Science, the Bouve College of Health Sciences, or the College of Engineering, depending on the candidate's specific field and background. All positions are interdisciplinary, and the candidates will hold full appointments in at least one of the other participating colleges.
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in relevant fields including chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, and chemical engineering; strong scholarly achievements within the broad domain of drug discovery and development; a passion for developing interdisciplinary connections; and a record as an accomplished and innovative teacher with the ability to teach in more than one of the participating colleges. It is anticipated that successful candidates are leading an active ongoing research program as evidenced by a strong record of publication in prominent peer-reviewed journals, mentorship of pre- and postdoctoral trainees, and by possession of a strong record of substantial, sustained and currently transferable extramural research funding.
